Common questions.

The full list of what gets asked most often. If yours isn't here, send an email and we'll answer it.

/01 Will it hurt?

Most people experience little to no discomfort during their appointment. After the brow design, Sara applies a generous layer of Zensa (5% lidocaine) for 20 minutes, and continues to numb throughout the process to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some people even fall asleep.

/02 How long does microblading last?

Everyone has a different experience depending on skin and lifestyle. Wearing sunscreen every day is essential to protect your brows.

Generally, refreshers are required around the two-year mark, though this varies. It's important to let the microblading fade about 60–70% before adding more pigment, to ensure long-term natural results without over-saturation.

/03 Will it completely disappear?

Honestly? Rarely. Maybe if the colour was light and you only had one session, but Sara has never seen it completely disappear without a trace.

Realistically, it's a tattoo on your face. That's why it's important to choose your artist carefully and be sure you love what they do.

/04 Will it look natural?

The goal is always natural. Like yours, but better. Brows that perfectly frame your face and never look overdone.

/05 How many sessions?

Microblading is generally a two-part process, ideally spaced 8–12 weeks apart for best results.

In the first session, Sara works conservatively with colour and stroke count. It will heal soft. When you return, she'll assess how you healed and make any adjustments to shape or colour. This is when more texture and fullness can be added. (She loves this session.)

If you're happy with how they healed after the first session, you aren't required to come back. You can come in sooner for a refresher instead if you prefer. In some cases a third session is required, but not often.

/06 Do you offer in-person consultations?

Absolutely. Happy to. Email Sara to set something up: browsbysarab@gmail.com.

/07 How do you choose the colour?

When choosing colour, Sara tries to get as close to the colour of your existing brows as possible. This ensures the most seamless blend and the most natural result.

Colour is fully customized for each client based on their needs.

/08 Can I get microblading if I have very oily skin?

This one is tricky. For very oily skin that is thick or textured, microblading isn't the best service. Heavy oil causes strokes to blur and they don't heal crisp the way you want microblading to look. A powder or combo brow would probably be a better option.

That said, some people think they have oily skin but actually have dehydrated skin. The skin is producing more oil because it lacks water. Microblading heals much better on dehydrated skin than truly oily skin.

Quick test: if your face feels tight immediately after washing and needs moisturizer, your skin is probably dehydrated, not oily.

Email Sara and she'll give you her honest opinion and point you in the right direction.

/09 Are there any contraindications?

Yes. The full list is on the pre & aftercare page: conditions we cannot work around, and conditions to discuss with your physician first.

If you're undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, please reach out before booking so we can be sure we're timing the service correctly within your treatment.

Still curious?

Just ask.
